Foundry Sea to Sky
The new Foundry Sea to Sky was designed to be incorporated into the main level of the new Spirit Creek Housing project (housing and base building by Station One Architects), with a direct adjacency to all that Squamish has to offer - greenery, outdoor activities, and the various local schools for easy access for Youth supports. This space was created to incorporate the Youth Hub within the Foundry space, creating a unique adjacency and relationship between social space and healthcare/social services. This created an opportunity to reduce barriers for youth to access mental health and primary care services, as well as a space to explore social programming.
We worked with the community and stakeholders to determine how to allocate space to support both core services, while providing confidentiality and safety for those needing access to more vulnerable and sensitive services. User engagement was key to ensure the unique needs were met and integrated into this space, while providing youth a sense of ownership through the design process. Integration with the Foundry Environmental Guidelines was key, and massaged to align with the feedback heard from the community.
